A survey of 2,000 homeowners revealed that over 60% consider their homes to be ongoing projects that will take around four more years to complete. The most neglected areas are gardens, outdoor spaces, kitchens, and bedrooms, with tasks like unpainted ceilings, wall cracks, and peeling wallpaper left unfinished. Nearly 70% are currently engaged in some form of DIY project, such as bathroom renovations and kitchen re-tiling. Living in an incomplete home affects the mood of half of the respondents. Many cite lack of time, money, and motivation as reasons for unfinished tasks. The kitchen was identified as the most disruptive space to leave unfinished.
