New research shows 28% of adults prefer traveling alone over going with partners, family or friends. The Travelzoo study surveyed 1,000 adults who have taken solo trips. Treating oneself ranked as the top motivation at 47%, followed by trying something new at 31%. Among solo and group travelers, 53% enjoy the flexibility while 51% prefer the freedom of going alone. Safety concerns topped worries at 45%, with loneliness at 34% and getting lost at 33%. Despite concerns, 77% believe everyone should try solo travel at least once.
