The Summer months are a deadly period on New York roads according to state officials.
State Police report we are just ending a period known as the 100 deadly days of summer. A stretch of days between Memorial Day and Labor Day when troopers see a spike in fatal car crashes. The problem is especially bad among teen drivers. NY state’s traffic safety committee reports that 30% of teen driver deaths have occurred during the months of June, July, and August. State officials say each year in NY approximately 680 teen drivers, ages 16 to 17, are treated at hospitals due to crashes during this period.
