Air Quality Awareness Week

This week NY Recognizes Air Quality Awareness Week by touting its strict environmental regulations.

New York State has some of the most stringent air quality regulations in the country according the Department of Environmental Conservation, the state's enforcement agency.  The DEC reports that due to the departments focus on environmental control regulations, emissions by major facilities have been reduced statewide.  Some say the path to better environmental statistics has been a trade-off as the strict regulations have also led to a reduction in manufacturing statewide.
