A skunk displaying signs of rabies tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. It's the 4th case this year.
The skunk was acting aggressively and threatened livestock in Willsboro. The Essex County Health Department has determined that there were no exposures and no further risk to the public. This is the fourth positive case of rabies in the county this year. Essex County continues to fight the deadly virus. The second round of rabies bait drops is underway this week with 37,000 baits being distributed. Director of Public Health, Linda Beers, said “This week’s drop will target the northeastern portion of Essex County”.
