Assemblyman Matt Simpson is concerned that federal funding could be at risk due to sanctuary policies.
North Country Assemblyman Matt Simpson said he was “outraged” by Governor Kathy Hochul’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee in Washington, D.C. While the Assemblyman is very concerned about NY losing billions of dollars of federal funding over the states sanctuary policies, he’s especially concerned that the Governor seemed unaware of some ugly high-profile cases that he said were directly enabled by her day-one executive order barring cooperation with ICE. Assemblyman Simpson cited examples of crimes committed by people who were in the country illegally that Hochul seemed unaware of such as the rape of a 5-year-old and the machete assault by a seven-time deportee. Simpson said “Hochul’s failure to show empathy for victims while protecting violent offenders is crushing New York.”
