Bail reform policies in New York State and elsewhere are under review by the federal government.
North Country Assemblyman Matt Simpson said he is optimistic that President Trump’s recent executive actions will pressure Albany to act. Simpson said allowing individuals accused of heinous crimes to walk free without bail has created dangerous loopholes that get exploited daily and, he said, Albany’s refusal to acknowledge these failures reflects a reckless disregard for the well-being of our state residents.
