Qwavon Harris was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing William E. Ball Jr. in a fight over drugs and a girlfriend.

Qwavon Harris, 29, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after admitting to the fatal shooting of William E. Ball Jr. in Elizabethtown, New York, during a dispute over drugs and a girlfriend. Harris pleaded guilty to felony manslaughter and several weapons charges, with the judge offering a reduced sentence to avoid a lengthy trial for the victim's family. The altercation escalated when Harris shot Ball with a 9mm derringer after an argument, and Ball was later found dead in his truck. Harris, a convicted felon on parole, had no legal right to possess a firearm, and after fleeing the scene, he was arrested at a local convenience store. Ball's family expressed outrage at the sentencing, with the victim’s brother calling for a life sentence instead of the 18-year term.  via The Press Republican
