Todays holiday has a bit of an Identity issue. No matter what it's called it's a day off for many people.
The official name of today’s holiday, according to the U.S. Government, is Columbus Day. It occurs on the second Monday in October and celebrates the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas. While the Federal Government calls it Columbus Day, some states and municipalities observe Indigenous Peoples' Day. Regardless, most government offices are closed, Schools have the day off and banks are closed. Happy Holiday. Enjoy the day.
