Clinton County officials say next years tax levy is the lowest since 2019 with a 6% reduction over this year.
The Clinton County Operating Budget for next year comes with a 6 percent reduction according to County officials. A statement by the county shows the new budget decreases the gross tax rate from $3.98 to $3.74 per $1,000 of assessed value. Legislature Chair Mark said this year’s tax rate reduction reflects fiscal responsibility and shared accountability across county operations. County Administrator Christine Peters, who prepared the spending plan, noted that “Achieving a tax rate reduction in a year marked by increased state mandates, and shifting federal priorities required significant diligence."
