Utility bill discounts are available for those who qualify for the gas and electric rate reductions.
To get the discounts customers must be below the median income but unable to qualify for existing low-income Energy Affordability Policy programs. This new program helps the State achieve the goal of holding low-income households’ energy bills to 6% or less of household income. The enhanced energy affordability policy leverages existing energy programs. Since 2017, more than one million low-income NY households have been provided with billions of dollars in targeted utility bill relief.
