The state will use "green" act funds to enhance and restore the empire state ecosystem.
The DEC and State Parks office will use Clean Air, Clean Water and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act funds to undertake ecosystem restoration and enhancement projects. These projects will include wetland and stream restoration and forest expansion, restoration, and conservation. The DEC reports that public lands face challenges from habitat loss, fragmentation, and ecological degradation. Officials say implementing habitat restoration and enhancement projects are a significant component of protecting biodiversity.
