A study is underway that aims to determine how much the Empire Trail contributes to local economies.
An economic impact study of the Empire State Trail has been launched according to Parks & Trails New York. The study is led by LaBella Associates. The parks and trails advocate organization reports that this may be the most comprehensive greenway economic impact analysis ever undertaken in NY. The Empire State Trail, extending 750 miles, is the longest multi-use state trail in the nation. Many miles of the trail cut through the North Country. It’s a patchwork of roadside, off road and rail trail configurations that runs North and South from NYC to the Canadian border and East to West from Albany to Buffalo. The economic study of the Empire State Trail aims to quantify the trail’s wide-ranging economic contributions.
