An audit by the state Comptroller's office uncovered some concern with the approval of projects.
A state audit found the Essex County Industrial Development Agency did not properly approve and monitor projects that were provided with financial assistance as required by the State General Municipal Law. The comptroller’s office reported that the nine approved projects reviewed did not include all information required by municipal law. Auditors offered 13 recommendations. Board officials generally agreed with the recommendations and have initiated, or plan to initiate corrective action.
