The state's first burst of peak fall color is anticipated to arrive this weekend in the Adirondacks.
The I Love NY volunteer field observers report a 75% change in the Wilmington area around Whiteface Mountain with bright shades of red, orange, gold and yellow. A 60% change is reported in Lake Placid. Crown Point area reporters say that location has undergone a 30% change. If peak season foliage seems early this year, Amy Bailey of the U.S. Forest Service suggests the wet spring and dry summer may be responsible for that.
