The town of Peru is preparing to open a municipal-level food waste collection program next month.
The new location on Cross Street in Peru, will feature the first smart-access food scrap collection bin in the County. A Grand Opening event is scheduled for 11am on February 3rd at the Peru Water Department. The program was established in collaboration with the Clinton County Health Department’s Eat Smart, Waste Less program and Casella Waste Systems. The food scraps collected at the site will be processed at Casella’s organics recycling facility in Schuyler Falls. The three-month pilot program is provided by Casella at no cost to the Town of Peru or residents.
