A NY state agency is being asked for documents regarding green projects receiving preferential treatment.
Assemblyman Matt Simpson and several other legislators have sent a letter to the Office of Renewable Energy Siting demanding documentation on renewable energy projects that threaten protected wildlife habitats and productive farmland. The letter highlights ORES’s broad authority to override recommendations from the DEC, local zoning laws and environmental protections to approve green energy projects. Assemblyman Matt Simpson a ranking member of the Environmental Conservation Committee said, “we are seeing an agency tasked with advancing environmental protections authorize the disruption of protected wildlife habitats and the destruction of productive farmland, somehow, in the name of environmental protection,”
