The HALT Act has undergone a review and recommendations have been made for possible changes.
The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision released 10 recommendations on Friday to Amend the Halt Act and Enhance Safety for Staff and Incarcerated Individuals. The recommendation comes from the Humane Alternatives to Long-Term Solitary Confinement Committee that was formed in March to review the Act in its current form. The proposed recommendations have been submitted to the State Legislature and the Governor’s office for additional review.
