The North Country received over 150,000 inflation protection refund checks from the state of New York.
Inflation refund checks of up to $400 were mailed out to eligible recipients over the past two months. The state reports that the main phase of large-scale check mailing is now complete. However, checks will continue to be mailed in small numbers in the weeks ahead as the Tax Department determines what additional taxpayers may be eligible. In the North Country region 156,000 checks were sent out totaling $42.4 Million. Statewide over 8 million checks were mailed costing over $2 billion taxpayer dollars.
