The state Commissioner of Agriculture will visit a local sugar bush this week to celebrate sugaring season.
The Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Markets will visit a local sugarbush this week to celebrate the start of the maple sugaring season. Commissioner Richard Ball will visit Parker Family Maple Farm in West Chazy on Friday for the first maple tapping of the season. In addition, Ball will promote the upcoming Maple Weekends at the end of March. According to the Agriculture Department, New York State ranks second in the nation for maple production, with 829,000 gallons of maple syrup produced in 2025. New York is also home to the largest resource of tappable maple trees within the United States.
