The 1980 U.S. Winter Olympic hockey team is about to get another set of gold medals for achievement.
The House of Representatives passed the Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act to award Congressional Gold Medals to the members of the historic 1980 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team in recognition of their remarkable achievement at the Winter Games in Lake Placid. The legislation that North Country Congresswoman, Elise Stefanik, had initially crafted was reintroduced in April by Rep. Pete Stauber of Minnesota, a former minor-league hockey player, and was co-led by Stefanik in the House. The bill was previously passed by the Senate and will now head to President Trump’s desk to sign it into law.
