Electric rates in the city of Plattsburgh are going up next month and each year after that for six years.
Starting in April electric rates in the City of Plattsburgh are going up. Mayor Wendell Hughes sent out an email that offered an explanation from the NY Power Authority regarding the increase. According to a Vice President at NYPA, Eric Bowers, the April increase is just the first of several that will be implemented over six years. Bowers said the phase-in will help mitigate the impact on customer bills. Mayor Hughes said this agreement solidifies Hydro power for MLD customers through 2040 and ensures clarity and limits for future rate increases.
