The flu is prevalent locally and across New York state. The most cases in a week were just recorded.
New York is seeing the highest number of flu cases ever recorded in a single week in the state, according to the State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald. Earlier this month, the Department declared that influenza is prevalent statewide. The declaration requires health care facilities and agencies ensure that their personnel who have not received this year's flu vaccine wear masks in areas where patients and residents may be present. In Clinton County the most recent data shows 73 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza. Essex county reports 54 and Franklin County has 94 cases.
