The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is alerting people of a new driver license scam.
The new scam claims that a driver’s license is about to be suspended. A very short window of time is then given for payment to avoid suspension. These scammers often target older adults and other vulnerable New Yorkers, using urgent language to pressure victims into acting quickly. If you did share your personal information, The DMV recommends checking credit reports regularly. The department also says you should also change your passwords and check your computer or devices for viruses.
