New Shelter Law

Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 6:46 AM

Increased standards will have to be met at animal shelters when a new law takes effect on Monday.

The State Department of Agriculture and Markets reports that even though the new law takes effect on the 15th, the Department will consider the first year an educational year.  That will allow Department inspectors to visit local shelters and advise them on actions needed to make sure the law’s guidelines are met.
