A group of five athletes from the North Country is training for the Vermont City Marathon (VCM), just two months away. Organized by Olivia Dwyer from Upper Jay, New York, the team will participate in the race as a relay, with runners from Essex County, New York, taking part. For many of them, the relay serves as an introduction to longer races, with some planning to attempt a full marathon in the future. The team finds camaraderie and motivation in training together, with athletes like Lisa Malmgren and Kristin Eaton also using the VCM to prepare for other events. As race day approaches, they look forward to experiencing the scenic views and lively atmosphere, including the steel drum section along the route.
