The Governor wants the state to build a nuclear reactor in sparsely populated and land-rich upstate NY.
A directive from Governor Kathy Hochul has the New York Power Authority looking into building the state’s first new nuclear power plant in decades in upstate NY. While no specific location has been determined, the Power Authority has been tasked with finding a location somewhere in upstate NY. The Governor said Candidate locations will be assessed for suitability based on several factors to include public safety and land availability.
