The second of two Maple Weekends takes place this weekend in the North Country and across the state.
North Country Maple operations statewide will again open their doors to the public to provide a chance to experience the unique tradition of making maple syrup. The Ag Department says NY is home to the largest resource of tappable maple trees within the U.S. and ranks second in the nation in maple production. Vermont tops the list of producers. Last year NY maple operations produced more than 829,000 gallons of maple syrup.
