A group that monitors electric supply in the state says the electrification movement may come up short.
In just two and a half months new homes and buildings under seven stories will be all electric in NY State. That means heat, hot water and cooking appliances will have to run on electricity forcing more demand on the grid. The group that monitors grid usage in the State--the New York Independent System Operator--just released two reports that show trouble ahead. North Country Assemblyman, Matt Simpson, said “We’re forcing families to swap gas stoves and furnaces for electric alternatives while our grid buckles under the weight of misguided mandates.” Simpson called the NYISO reports “a wake-up call.”
