In 3 months new homes will have to be heated by electricity as fossil fuel, gas and oil, will be banned.

New York is advancing efforts to achieve an emission-free economy by 2050, targeting the energy, buildings, transportation, and waste sectors.  Within about 3 months, the state’s All-Electric Building Act will require that most new construction projects be fully powered by electricity, banning fossil fuel equipment (such as gas and oil) in new buildings under 7 stories starting January first.  To gauge progress on the Climate Agenda, the “GreenNY” Council prepares a report annually that highlights actions State agencies and authorities take to reduce energy use.  This year’s “Greening NY State” report shows that $228 million was spent on environmentally preferred products and services, nearly 17 tons of material was composted, and approximately 68-thousand trees were planted.
