Daughter continued to take mother's pension payments after her death.
A woman pleaded guilty to stealing more than $25,000 in NY state pension payments made to her deceased mother according to State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. The comptroller’s office received an anonymous tip and started investigating. They found that between January 2020 and June 2022 the woman, living in Western NY, who is the daughter of the deceased state employee collected unauthorized payments that totaled over $25,000. The woman pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the third degree and was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay restitution.
