The Health Department want people to know accidental poisoning is a leading cause of preventable death
The Clinton County Health Department wants to get the word out that poisoning is the leading cause of injury-related death in the U.S. Nichole Louis, the county Director of Health Care Services, says “Some of the most common cases of accidental poisoning involve medicines, carbon monoxide and household products.” Accidental poisoning doesn’t just involve young children. In fact, the health department notes, less than 40% of poison center cases are related to kids aged five years and younger. Louis says, “one of the best things you can do is to save the toll-free Poison Help Line phone number in your phone.”
