Powerball Benefits New York State

During the recent big Powerball jackpot runup 11 tickets valued at a million dollars were sold in NY State.

People buying lottery tickets in NY State cashed in during the recent Powerball run according to the NY Lottery. Even though the $1.8 billion jackpot was won in Arkansas, nearly 100 tickets bought in NY had a prize value of $50,000 or more with eleven million-dollar second prize winners in the state during the rollup. Commissions on ticket sales paid to retailers between September 8^th and Christmas Eve totaled $11.7 Million across the state. NY ticket sales generated $68 million in aid to education. Gaming Commission Chair Brian O’Dwyer said, “NY’s public schools and lottery retailers always win big with massive jackpots.”
