Area state leaders are calling on the Department of Corrections to explain protocol for blood exposure incidents.
Following a recent blood exposure incident at Upstate Correctional Facility, area lawmakers are asking for answers from the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Senator Dan Stec Sent a letter to DOCCS Commissioner Daniel Martuscello asking what protocol is following these types of incidents. Meanwhile Assemblyman Michael Cashman has also called for an explanation of current procedures. Both Assemblyman Cashman and Senator Stec said it’s unacceptable for DOCCS employees to go out on their own and locate prescribed treatment following blood exposure incidents. They say DOCCS should do more to help.
