Prison Tech Upgrade

An independent state prison oversight group has suggested a technical upgrade is needed in NY.

A report by the Correctional Association of New York offers a 2026 critical assessment of New York’s prisons. The group provides an independent oversight of state prisons and for this year they recommended new technological advances. The group says this is to address the root causes of violence and improve living and working conditions systemwide. According to a press release, CANY’s central recommendation for 2026 is the expansion of tablet technology to serve as a tool for improving communication, transparency, and accountability.
