A dead raccoon in Elizabethtown tested positive for rabies according to the Essex Co. Health Department.
This is the ninth lab-confirmed case of rabies in the County this year. The Health Department’s investigation has confirmed there were no known human or pet exposures associated with this case. Health Director, Linda Beers, said the late-season case is a reminder that rabies is not just a summer issue; it’s a year-round concern in Essex County.
