A project of the DEC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and Willsboro will improve monitoring of salmon spawning.
The goal of the project is to allow DEC and partners to evaluate various management strategies that will improve the status of Atlantic salmon population in the area fishery. Although they are the same species as the sea-run Atlantic salmon, this population is landlocked in freshwater. Unlike Pacific salmon, which spawn only once in their lifecycle, mature landlocked Atlantic salmon may survive several spawning runs.
