The Senator said the bill does not address the safety of CO's and staff at State Prisons.
Senator Dan Stec voted against an omnibus bill passed by State Democrats concerning correctional facilities. According to a release from the Senator’s office, the legislation lays out a series of measures that expand rights for incarcerated individuals at the expense of correction officers. During his explanation of the vote against the bill, Stec highlighted the spate of chemical and synthetic drug exposures inside correctional facilities, the most recent of which occurred last week at Dannemora. Senator Stec said, “It’s absolutely shameful that while our COs and civilian staff are subjected to chemical exposures, Democrats continue to pass pro-criminal legislation.”
