Area homeowners are expected to get a few hundred dollars from a tax relief program.
Thousands of North Country property owners will receive checks this summer as part of New York’s School Tax Relief program known as STAR. Some 88,000 homeowners in this region with incomes below $500,000, and seniors with incomes less than $107,000 are eligible, and will share in a little more than $47 million. Most people eligible for the STAR credit will get between $350 and $600. Some may have gotten their benefits in the form of a tax exemption this year while others will get a check.
