The state Comptroller’s office was critical of the Chazy School District in a recent audit due to the lack of a remedial action plan regarding lead exposure.
The state audit found that Chazy District officials did not properly identify, report or implement needed remediation to reduce lead exposure in all potable water outlets as required by state law and Department of Health regulations. Auditors determined 115 of the 178 (65%) water outlets identified at select areas were not sampled or properly exempted. This occurred, auditors said, because district officials did not have a sampling plan or a remedial action plan in place. This final report included seven recommendations. Superintendent, Robert McAuliffe, advised the Chief of municipal audits that district officials agreed with the findings and recommendations.
