NY State Police released data showing thousands of tickets were issued over Thanksgiving long weekend.
Troopers issued over a thousand citations to drivers in the North Country over the heavily traveled Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The enforcement initiative began on Wednesday, November 26th, and continued through Sunday, November 30th. In total, 247 people were arrested for DWI and 1,277 crashes were investigated including two that resulted in fatalities. Regionally, Troop B members made seven arrests for DWI and cited nearly 300 drivers for speeding and distracted driving. Statewide the ticket count exceeded 13,000 and was several hundred more than last year according to State Police.
