Addiction services has launched a campaign designed to address the stigma of addiction treatment.
The “Turn the Page on Stigma” campaign is designed to educate people about the stigma related to addiction services. The most recent National Survey on Drug Use, released last month by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, indicated that stigma is a concern for people who choose not to seek treatment. In that survey, 43% of people who did not receive treatment said their reasoning was because they were worried about what people would think of them, while more than 34% said they worried about losing their job, home, or children.
