An ENCON program started last year will continue at an Adirondack Great Camp in Essex County.
The DEC has decided to continue the free electric wheelchair program this year at Camp Santanoni. The decision follows a review of last year’s electric wheelchair pilot program at the great camp located in Newcomb. Wheelchairs are available by reservation on weekends and holiday Mondays from July 5 through mid-October. Qualified individuals may use the chairs to cruse the camp trails. A partnership agreement between the DEC and Adirondack Architectural Heritage made it possible to double the number of weekends electric wheelchairs will be available.
