Hundreds of New York state residents lose their lives due to skin cancer each year according to DOH.

The State Department of Health reports that more than 4,400 residents are diagnosed with melanoma annually, and it claims over 350 lives each year. Skin cancer is caused by UV rays. In NY It is against the law for anyone under 18 to use UV producing equipment at indoor tanning facilities. That’s because, according to the health department, Indoor tanning devices can produce UV radiation levels 15 times greater than sunlight.
