The New York Farm Bureau is celebrating passage of the "Whole Milk for Healthy Kids" Act.
The legislation allows schools to serve whole, 2%, 1% and skim flavored or plain milk as part of school meals, overturning the 2012 rule that allowed only fat-free or 1% milk to be served in schools. The House passed the Act yesterday afternoon, while the Senate passed it last month. Ashley Sardo, of the Farm Bureau, said This allows greater opportunities for NY dairy farmers.
