While arriving home from work, a Los Angeles woman encountered an unexpected sight in the parking garage of her apartment complex - a 20-foot python resting atop a dumpster. Teresa Sanchez, a resident of The Piero Apartments downtown, described her disbelief upon witnessing the large snake. "I couldn't believe it," Sanchez said. "I was like, 'Am I in Florida? What's going on here?'" Sanchez was unable to reach animal control, and local police informed her that snake wrangling was not one of their typical responsibilities. However, another witness summoned Joseph Hart from SoCal Reptile Hunter to the scene. The witness suspected the snake appeared ill and had potentially been abandoned in the trash intentionally. Hart collected the python to undergo veterinary examination and rehabilitation. While not native to the United States, various python species are popular exotic pets. (UPI)
