A 36-year-old homeless man stole a Hamilton, Ontario city bus Tuesday evening and drove passengers around for 15 minutes before police arrested him. The incident began around 9 p.m. when the driver left for a break at downtown MacNab Bus Terminal. The man took the driver's seat of the articulated bus and headed to the Mountain, making regular stops for about 10 passengers to board and exit. Police spokesperson Trevor McKenna said passengers initially didn't realize he wasn't the actual driver until he made wrong turns. One passenger even gave him directions back to the route. "There was not a ding on the bus. He did a great job," McKenna said. "It's comical but at the same time it's serious. We're thankful nobody was hurt." Police followed without sirens to avoid escalating the situation. The man faces charges including theft over $5,000 and driving while prohibited. (Story URL)
