Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 7:02 PM

Spanish authorities arrested seven suspects accused of stealing over 1,100 restaurant chairs across Madrid and nearby areas. Spain's National Police announced that the criminal group targeted outdoor seating at 18 establishments in Madrid and Talavera de la Reina during August and September. The theft ring included six men and one woman who operated at night, taking chairs from restaurant patios. Police estimate the stolen property's value at around $69,000. The suspects face charges including theft and belonging to a criminal organization. Authorities say the group resold the stolen chairs in Spain, Morocco, and Romania. Spanish restaurants and bars commonly leave metal and plastic outdoor furniture on patios overnight, typically stacking chairs and securing them with chains. (Story URL)
