Former criminology student Bryan Kohberger admitted to killing four University of Idaho students during a plea hearing, pleading guilty to all five counts. He will receive four consecutive life sentences for the murders and a maximum of 10 years for burglary. Kohberger waived his right to appeal as part of the agreement. Paramount Global has agreed to pay $16 million to settle a legal dispute with President Trump over a 60 Minutes interview with former Vice-President Kamala Harris. The U.S. government is set to breed and release billions of flies over Mexico and southern Texas to combat the threat of a flesh-eating maggot known as the New World Screwworm fly. By sterilizing male flies with radiation and releasing them to mate with females in the wild, the aim is to reduce the population of larvae that pose a risk to livestock, pets, and wildlife. The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that a law dating back to 1849 does not ban abortion in the state. The decision clarified that the historical law does not explicitly prohibit abortion. Microsoft revealed plans to lay off up to 9,100 employees, constituting about 4% of its workforce, as part of ongoing efforts to streamline operations. This marks the fourth round of layoffs for Microsoft this year, following previous reductions in January, May, and June.
