The National Park Service has revised its list of fee-free days, removing Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth while adding Flag Day and President Trump’s birthday. The change comes weeks after the administration announced higher entry fees for non-U.S. citizens and nonresidents. A $100 fee will apply at 11 popular parks, and annual passes for nonresidents will rise to $250 in 2026. (Story URL)


The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $875 million, making it the second-largest prize of 2025 and the seventh-biggest in the game’s history. The Coast Guard Cutter Munro seized more than 10 tons of cocaine from a drug-smuggling boat south of Mexico. Officials said the open-bowed vessel, powered by three large outboard motors, was intercepted in the eastern Pacific Ocean. CBS News reported it was the largest at-sea drug seizure in nearly 20 years. The mission was part of Operation Pacific Viper, launched by the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard in August. (Story URL)


The Supreme Court announced Friday it will hear arguments on President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship. The case centers on the 14th Amendment clause ratified in 1868, which guarantees citizenship to anyone born in the United States. President Trump criticized Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar for running again as a Democrat after receiving a presidential pardon.
